It Was Always Meant to Happen That Way

This past week, I was accepted into the Weight Coach Training by Brooke Castillo. Brooke is a coach who’s work I have admired for sometime now  (I mentioned her here and here) so, to say that I am excited to be in her training program is a big understatement.

I’m already a good coach, I have no doubts about that, but this training is going to take my ability to coach people to a whole new level. Brooke is one of the best coaches in the country, some might argue the best, and I am thrilled to learn and grow with her. Brooke’s philosophy is that in order to be a good coach, one must be doing their own work (hey, me too!) and further developing my self coaching skills is one of the aspects I am most excited about.

I have no doubt that I am going to come out the other side of this thing with an even fuller tool belt and an even more open heart and mind.

It’s a win win.

Anyway, immediately after paying the tuition, I received a few emails with important information I needed to know about the training. One of the emails was a list of three books that she has written that need to be read before the training starts in September. I had already read If I’m So Smart, Why Can’t I Lose Weight?* as well as Self Coaching 101* and loved them both. Her third book, It Was Always Meant to Happen That Way* had been on my list of books to read for a while so the timing was perfect. (of course it was!).

I read this book in a couple of hours and just finished it this morning. The whole time I was reading it, I was thinking that this book deserved a Wisdom Whore Wednesday post but I couldn’t wait that long. This book is amazing.

It rocks.

It will make you laugh and cry.

It is honest with no apologies.

It is human and real on a level that most people aren’t willing to be.

It will make you shift your perspective on so many things. Even as someone who was already fully on board with her belief systems, I feel changed by what I read. I kept saying to myself if I had a highlighter, this whole book would be pink.

It opens with this Byron Katie quote that I love:

How do I know it was supposed to happen? It did.

And from there, grab your highlighter, you pens or pencils and a notebook.

This book is full of powerful nuggets of wisdom and I have no doubt that I will read it a million times over. In fact, I will probably go back to it with my highlighter a little later today.

Yes, it was that awesome and it didn’t feel right for me not to share.

Ready to get started with my NO BULLSHIT approach for making peace with food?
I've written a guide that will help you do just that. Enter your email address below for instant access.

Thanks for sharing Christie. I’m going to check all of this out. I learned about Integrative Nutrition from you and am so thankful for that and continue to learn from you :)

It’s so neat to see you so excited! Maybe I’ll have to pick up the book!

Hmm, I think what was meant to happen is for me to read this post tonight! I actually got home upset and exhausted after a long day of work (shocker!) and started eating chocolate while crying about how I’m so pathetic that “I keep doing this to myself” against my better judgement… and then I opened Google Reader on autopilot. And then I bought this book. And I’m already done with it! It was incredibly inspiring – you’re right. Thank you so much for sharing! I’m glad you couldn’t wait until Wednesday :)
